Meet Bojan Jovicic – Microsoft Dynamics AX MVP from Serbia

Having been awarded the prestigious Microsoft MVP award, Microsoft has honored me once more by publishing the official interview with me. I am very proud to have it available on such an authoritative page as the influential Microsoft Feed.

I was asked both formal and highly professional questions, as well as informal ones. This is a considerable ex cathedra endorsement and an esteemed compliment to all the previous work both of my whole team's and my own.

7 Sensible Steps to Improve Software Quality

I was real surprised to read an really pragmatic article about software development on CIO (usually I find excellent news for cloud, virtualization and similar goodness).

Unfortunately, the original paper at Forrester is not free, and if bump in online version, please send or comment. Scrum supports some of things outlined, and other stuff can be easily done with good team (not good as out of the box, but rather groomed over time).

Here is the abstract and the link to article:

These pragmatic practices, from Forrester Research, won't break the bank, cause a revolt among application development team members or slow down development processes.

The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us

This video is masterfully animated by hand-drawing which is really following the short 10 minute story about a classical organizational approach to motivation which shows bad performance results for everything except the operational tasks, and how we should approach motivating our teams for the creative tasks, which are very important in ICT. Scrum already has some of this things included in its practices.

You can view the video here, or click below.

I would like to thank my associate for sharing this. He learned of this video during his CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) training, where he saw it.

Microsoft Sinergija (Synergy) 2010

This year I was invited as a speaker in the Microsoft Dynamics area for the annual Microsoft conference Sinergija (Sinergy).

I have been a regular speaker at Sinergija since 2007 when I held 3 tracks, and I got to amazing 5 tracks in 2008, and then back to 3 tracks in 2009.

What was important in 2009 is that one of my associates held one track, and I am really proud of this, and even prouder because this year tracks of two of my associates have already been approved.

Information about me was published on front page of Sinergija's webs ite and you can find full article in their lecturer series. They also published this on Sinergija's Facebook Page and in their Facebook lecturer album.

Psychological Effect of Projects Left Unfinished

There is a nice article on CIO about effects of projects that don't get finished:

Project Management: When Good IT Projects Go Bad: "Problem projects--killed, euthanized or launched with disappointing results--can leave techies with unresolved feelings that linger for years."

Article is about 6 printed pages long, and it outlines communication as one of key factors in reducing bad effects. In my experience, communication is one of the key tools inside ICT (e.g. Scrum in development projects) department, but also in ICT's cooperation with the rest of the company.

I think it is worth the read and might help you achieve best scenario by Vince Lombardi: "….I firmly believe that any man’s finest hours – his greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear – is that moment when he has worked his heart out in good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious".

Shortcuts for Dynamics AX 2009 - New Poster

I previously wrote about keyboard shortcuts for Dynamics AX 2009 when we created our own poster with two pages (one for the typical user and one for developers).

I recently found one really impressive visual poster with shortcuts for the typical user of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. You can download it here.

The use of the shortcuts is very important for people who spend much time in computer work. Keyboard shortcuts increase productivity greatly, but also have a good effect on mouse usage RSI (Repeated Stress Injury) prevention.

Do You Know IT Security?

IT Quiz

I recently found nice and funny quiz about IT security on CIO website, which I am following.

Quiz is nicely done, with decent questions (Firewalls, VPNs, SSL, PKI, encryption, etc.), and provides some explanations of answers.

You can check it here: http://www.cio.com/article/598399/Quiz_Do_You_Know_IT_Security_?page=1#slideshow
